Meal Planning 11/04/16

Last week we actually cooked all the meals on the plan. A couple in a slightly different order but still all the planned meals were prepared and cooked. If I had put this post up yesterday, we would already have failed this week. Yesterday involved an English Breakfast, wood splitting and a trip to the pub so the planned Sunday roast is now a Monday roast.

Monday – Roast Shoulder of Lamb
Tuesday – I’m working so the Other Half will be in charge, I suspect Leftover Lamb Curry may be on the cards.
Wednesday – I’m working again so he is still in charge
Thursday – Pork Chops in some form of creamy mushroom sauce
Friday – Chicken stir fry
Saturday – something with gnocchi – probably similar to this spinach and chicken recipe.

 

 

Liebster Award

Readers who have seen my post on being nominated for the Sunshine Blogger Award will know I have a certain amount of cynicism towards these blogger awards.

First of all the good stuff: I still got a warm, fuzzy feeling when the nomination notification came through from Yummy with no money, it’s a great way to let other bloggers know you appreciate the posts you have read and it may direct your readers to a blog they may not have found otherwise.

The not so good stuff: there is no physical award, this is peer awarded by nomination, if it goes on for long enough,  every blogger will have one. It also feels a bit like those chain letters that I used to get as a kid.

Taking the above into account, I will do the same as I did for the Sunshine Blogger Award and take the time to answer the questions Emily set, I will highlight some blogs I enjoy but I won’t be officially nominating other blogs.

Now onto those questions:

If you had to eat one thing for the rest of your life what would it be?

Probably chocolate although the sensible part of me says that to actually get nutrition it should be slightly broader so my second favorite food would perhaps be best, beef stew.

What’s your favourite type of cuisine?

I do enjoy good, old traditional British grub, toad in the hole, stew, the great British roast and not forgetting a good fried breakfast.

What’s your guilty pleasure?

Wine. Lots and lots of wine. I really do enjoy exploring the world of wine even though my palate is not very good.

What’s your dream job?

The one I have now! In all seriousness, working in motorsport and helping develop grassroots motorsport is a passion of mine and I love working in this sector.

What’s your favourite hobby (apart from blogging!)?

Motorsport, especially vintage cars. I’ve been a volunteer at motorsport events for well over 20 years.

Who is your motivation?

A lot of my cooking and my involvement in motorsport is inspired by my late Nan. She was a very strong woman and nobody messed with her!

What three items would you take on a desert island with you?

A book (The Count of Monte Cristo), a lifetime supply of wine and, more practically, a damn good knife!

If you had to move abroad, where would you choose to live?

The South Island of New Zealand, I absolutely fell in love with the place when we went out there.

What is your favourite thing about yourself?

This is more difficult! Probably my adaptability, life has thrown some curve balls my way but I think I’ve come out the other side as a pretty grounded individual.

What will always cheer you up?

Chocolate, wine or seeing my Small Person!
